The Automatic Muller MK V guarantees accurate mulling and correct dispersion of pigments into oils or varnishes - these are essential quality control factors for the attainment of high standards in the manufacture of inks, coatings and cosmetics.

The Automatic Muller MK V maintains a uniform rubbing action of pigments between two precision ground and fine etched glass plates, one stationary and one rotating under a given load*, for a set number of revolutions.
If the action is repeated, the energy consumed is identical and the resulting dispersion with therefore closely resemble the first.
*Loading may be varied by the addition or removal of loose weights. The initial load of 50lbs (1.1lbs/sq) can be increased to 100lbs (2.2lbs/sq) or 150lbs (3.3lbs/sq) by the addition of one or both of the standard weights supplied. |

Operation
Operation of the Automatic Muller MK V is straightforward. Apply the pre-weighted pigment to be mulled to the centre of bottom glass plate and mix with necessary quantity of oil (so that resulting dispersion will spread almost to outer edges of plates). Lower the top plate and secure by the locking catch. Bring down loading lever to apply desired load. Select required number of revolutions (according to type of pigment) and press green start button. The machine will automatically switch off when required number of revolutions have been completed. (Operation can be interrupted at any time by simply pushing the red stop button).
Dispersion & Colour Strength Comparisons
The pigment to be evaluated is weighted, mixed and given the chosen number of revolutions. A control pigment is treated in the same way. The resulting dispersion may then be easily compared with the assistance of a grinding gauge (additional information available).
Colour strength comparisons are readily made by taking samples of the above dispersions and mixing with a pre-ground white paste to form a reproducible tint.
Cleaning
The stainless steel casing of the Automatic Muller MK V together with the ground glass plates and retaining bezel rings, should be cleaned after use with White Spirit, or another suitable cleaning agent.
Maintenance
No maintenance is necessary as the motor is sealed for life.
Spare Parts
Additional ground glass plates are always available from stock.
